unterwelt refers to the movie 'unterwelt', a lost work from russian movie pioneer sergej eisenstein. a search about eisenstein and unterwelt delivers a bunch of obscure results, actually eisenstein has never shot this movie. however, in the book 'underworld' from don delillo the film plays a keyrole, and reportedly eisenstein made it underhand in mexico, during production of another movie - "que viva mexico". until today it hasn't been completly clear, if the mexican-anonymous artgroup ankunpxn(x) has a relation to unterwelt.
when glen goulds pianoplay has been driven through ringmodulators in kelvins raahs unterworld, eisenstein met getrude stein at the year 1929, though glen gould didn't meet eisenstein at any time. both sergej eisenstein and glen gould died at the age of 50.
